For Simon

Over the last six or so years, Simon Small has been part of the Wholesome community—recording, creating, and building alongside so many people in this space.

He was a steward of the musician community here. Always kind in the hallway, always bringing new people through, always looking out for the space (including always flushing the toilets and tidying the bathroom - a true professional all around and the kind of person we made Wholesome for). More than once, someone would walk in and say they found us because of Simon. He was one of the reasons the halls were filled with good tunes.

He was one of those people who made the floor feel active just by being on it. Steady, focused, and always working on something.

Simon was recently killed in a car accident.

We’re holding his wife, Sarah, who survived the crash, and his partner Adam, who has been part of this community for over a decade, as they move through what comes next. There’s no clean way to make sense of a loss like this—only the chance to show up for the people who are still here.

If you’re able, you can support Sarah here.

Simon’s work lives on here, for now.

We’re grateful for the time he shared with this space, and for the role he played in helping build the community we have today.
