Before they were internationally famous for their smash hit "I'm Not in Love" 10cc released eight singles for Jonathan King's UK Records along with two full length albums.
In the summer of 1972 10cc released their first single with a parody song called "Donna" and the B-side a wonderful song called "Hot Sun Rock". Then came the second single "Johnny Don't do It" a Zappaesque song with a unusual B-side called "4% of Something". The next single was their biggest hit early on and it was called "Rubber Bullets", and the B-side ballad "Waterfall". In August of 1973 the forth single was released and it was called "The Dean and I" and had a really cool amusing B-side called "Bee in My bonnet".
In January 1974 the great 10cc released their next single called "The Worst Band in the World" and the flipside called "18 Carat Man of Means. ”Headline Hustler" with its killer piece of rock B-side "Speed Kills" came out in 1974 only in the US and sadly did not chart. "The Wall Street Shuffle" a great piece of cynical lyric rock and its B-side "Gismo My Way" made it to top 10 in the UK charts. Their last single for UK Records was "Silly Love" with its B-side "The Sacro-lliac"
I saw, met and reviewed 10cc in the summer of 1974. I spent many interesting hours with guitarist Eric Stuart and he personally gave me an import copy of 10cc's Sheet Music. I love this early 10cc even though it's not as well-known as their subsequent music. This is really great music and very different, with a wide variety of song styles and approaches to playing Rock.
