{}{}{}{} Niaz Kausar {}{}{}{}{}

Niaz is a Pakistani American, born in Pakistan and raised in the US by her adoptive parents. She has spent her whole life in the Chicago land area and is inspired by her circumstance. She is proud of her identity and tries to connect with her birth country through her art. Her work features narratives and conversations about what it means to have a Pakistani identity. She is interested in language and translation and is inspired by political figures and poets who speak about the struggle against oppression, specifically in Pakistan but also in America. Although she considers herself a painter, Niaz creates many of her pieces out of fabric combining textiles with painting, printmaking and embellishment. She uses bright colors and traditional patterns with text and landscapes to share the idea of Pakistan in a positive way.

[][][][][] Maya Scott [][][][][]

Maya Scott is an abstract artist from the south side of Chicago. Maya is professionally trained in Painting and Drawing. Working with all mediums she is heavily influenced by the array of interpretations abstract art has to offer. Sticking to that theme Maya’s goal is to provoke the viewer to go beyond the initial image and dig deeper by the layers and composition of each piece. Maya wants her art to effect her own community. She started Switch2Peace to do so.
